Great relationship dram that turns into a crime story. Reconstructing Amelia is even better, do we really know our children, can we trust our instincts?
The Sound of Glass by Karen White
Wonderful stories about women finding their way. Loved the book as I've loved all her books. A Long Time Gone and On Folly Beach are simply the best books ever.
Nemesis: An FBI Thriller by Catherine Coulter
Okay, I admit her FBI series are getting a little formalistic but you get so involved with her continuing characters it's like a warm, exciting visit with family and you have to find out how it ends!
The Bone Tree (Penn Cage) by Greg Iles
It's an epic and the second in a trilogy, Natchez Burning is the first. It's part of the Penn Gage series but could start with Natchez Burning. Such a good book and series, full of civil rights history in Old Mississippi. You simply can't put these books down as you race to the end and wait impatiently for the next one.
The Liar by Nora Roberts
I admit, she's is getting a little redundant, especially with her paperback series, but every once in awhile she hits it out of the park. She did with The Liar. Her early books are all worth a look. Also read The Collector.
Friction by Sandra Brown
I've been a Sandra Brown fan from the beginning. Witness was her first hardback and one of the best books ever. She keeps it fresh with a dash (or more) of romance to bring a sigh at the end. Many re-reads of most of her books. This year I re-read Mean Streak.
The Stranger by Harlan Coben
I've been a Harlan Coben fan from the beginning and have hooked many friends and family on his books. Great storyteller.
Pretty Girls: A Novel by Karin Slaughter
Stand alone (along with Cop Town). Not for the faint of heart but best mystery cop thriller author. Her Will Trent series is absolutely a must read, you fall in love with Will Trent and cheer for him every time.
Cold Cold Heart by Tami Hoag
I have read Tami Hoag since her romance book days (all were hot, romantic suspense and beloved, they are worn out from all the sharing and re-reads) but I digress. Her books now are suspenseful and compelling.
Zoo by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge
It was good, dragged on a little, but compelling subject matter. I'm not a James Patterson fan anymore. His early Alex Cross books were awesome and worth a re- read anytime. Also still like his Women's Murder Club series.
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
I don't think it deserves the hype it's getting. Reminds me of Gone Girl. I didn't love it, maybe the movie will redeem it.
Revival: A Novel by Stephen King
Vintage Stephen King. Finders Keepers, sequel to Mr. Mercedes. Couldn't put it down. This series is the best King has done in awhile. Can't wait for the next one!
Saving Grace by Jane Green
Loved it, if you like her books you won't be disappointed.
Lisa Kleypas
Run don't walk to get Sugar Daddy, Blue Eyed Devil. Smooth Talking Stranger so you are ready for the final book, Brown Eyed Girl. Get ready to forget everything else while you immerse yourself in her wonderful foray into contemporary fiction. As a plus every one of her old historical books are as wonderful. She is just the best and I've never been disappointed in her books.
Jodi Picoult
What can I say, Jodi Picoult doesn't write a bad book. Read every one! But favs were all her early ones, Nineteen Minutes, The Storyteller, and Handle With Care were this years re-reads.
Sara Donati
Did you love “Last of the Mohicans” movie with Daniel Day Lewis? If so, this series is a spin off imagining Hawkeye and Cora’s son Nathaniel and his life and adventures. It sparks all the romance and adventure you can imagine and you will want to read one after the other. This series will forever remain one of my favorites. Every book in the series is excellent and continues the storyline as it also introduces new characters and tells their story. You were sad to see it end, but she ended it in a very satisfying, sigh inducing way! Into The Wilderness; Dawn on a Distant Shore; Lake In The Clouds; Fire Along The Sky; Queen of Swords; The Endless Forest. Read in order to maximize your enjoyment!
Jennifer Donnelly
The “Rose” Series: The Tea Rose; The Winter Rose (my favorite); The Wild Rose.
Lisa Scottoline
I’ve read all of her books but my favorites have been her non-series books, beginning with Look Again (my favorite); Save Me; Come Home (a bookclub favorite); Don’t Go; Keep Quiet.
Kristen Hannah
I’ve read all of her books and they are all excellent but The Winter Garden and The Nightingale are must reads.
Khaled Hosseini
If you haven’t read The Kite Runner; A Thousand Splendid Suns (my personal favorite); And The Mountains Echoed you have missed 3 of the best books written in a long time. He doesn’t publish often, but all 3 books are worth your time and effort!
